Say Thank You Today — and Every Day…

Even though many of us have numerous occasions to feel grateful in both our personal and professional lives, we often miss out on opportunities to say thank you — especially at work. Failing to express gratitude is a missed opportunity. Research finds that it allows you to savor positive experiences, cope with stressful circumstances, and strengthen your relationships with colleagues. And sending a message of gratitude can also have powerful and long-lasting effects on the recipient, who will feel valued and motivated to help others.

So send some thanks today — to colleagues, mentors, mentees, family, friends, or anyone who’s helped you along the way. But don’t wait another year to do it again! Whether you’re a CEO or someone looking for your first job, think about incorporating gratitude into your daily, weekly, and monthly routines. It may make your journey, wherever you’re going, a little brighter.

The Power of Seeking Help: Building Connections …

In our journey through life, there’s an inherent strength in reaching out for support or guidance from others. It’s not merely about resolving an issue but a profound opportunity to connect, grow, and foster meaningful relationships.

Contrary to the misconception that seeking help implies vulnerability or inadequacy, it’s a gateway to establishing deeper connections. When we seek assistance, we open ourselves to others, displaying trust and vulnerability. This act often paves the way for building bonds based on mutual understanding and support.

Asking for help isn’t just about solving problems; it’s an exchange of knowledge and experiences. It creates a dynamic where both parties learn and grow from the interaction. The willingness to learn from others’ insights fosters personal and professional development.

Furthermore, seeking help acknowledges the unique expertise and value that individuals bring. It cultivates an environment of collaboration, where relationships flourish based on mutual respect and appreciation.

In essence, asking for help transcends mere problem-solving. It’s a catalyst for building connections and nurturing a supportive community. It’s about recognizing the shared human experience and embracing the strength that comes from collaboration.

So, let’s reframe the narrative around seeking help. It’s not a sign of weakness but a demonstration of courage, trust, and a willingness to connect. Embrace the power of seeking help, not just for solutions but for the invaluable connections and relationships it fosters along the way.

Embracing the Unfamiliar: A Pathway to Growth and Learning…

In life, we often encounter tasks or situations that don’t immediately resonate with our preferences. There’s a prevalent misconception that we should only pursue activities we inherently like. However, this notion overlooks the potential for growth and learning that comes from engaging with the unfamiliar.

It’s common to form judgments about disliking something before giving it a chance. But how can one truly know they don’t like a task they’ve never attempted? This preconceived notion can restrict personal development and limit opportunities for acquiring new skills and experiences.

Shedding disbelief and approaching unfamiliar tasks with an open mind is pivotal. Rather than being deterred by initial reservations, embracing these challenges with enthusiasm can lead to profound personal growth.

Focusing on tasks earnestly, regardless of personal preferences, is an invaluable approach. Each unfamiliar task presents an opportunity to expand your knowledge base and skill set. By embracing these challenges, you invite learning, development, and a broader perspective into your life.

Approaching the unknown with determination opens doors to unexpected discoveries and self-improvement. It’s through these experiences that we learn resilience, adaptability, and the capacity to thrive in diverse environments.

Life’s journey is adorned with varied experiences. Embracing unfamiliar tasks or situations offers a pathway to unlocking hidden potentials and discovering untapped abilities within ourselves.

So, let’s challenge the norm and embrace the unfamiliar. Approach every task with an open mind and a willingness to learn. By doing so, you’re not just expanding your horizons; you’re actively shaping a future enriched with newfound knowledge, skills, and personal growth.

Contribute, Don’t worry about perfection…

In our pursuit of making a difference or achieving goals, the desire for perfection or waiting for the perfect time can often hold us back. We’re conditioned to seek flawless execution or ideal circumstances before contributing, but the truth is, that progress doesn’t always emerge from perfection or perfect timing.

Contribution is about taking action, making a difference, and adding value without fixating on being flawless or waiting for the stars to align. It’s about embracing imperfection as a part of the journey towards growth and success.

When we prioritize contribution over perfection:

  1. Initiative Takes Center Stage: By taking action despite imperfections, we showcase our willingness to initiate change and learn from our experiences.
  2. Learning Becomes Invaluable: Embracing the process of contributing, even imperfectly, fosters learning, improvement, and personal development through hands-on experiences.
  3. Adaptability Shines: Being ready to contribute in less-than-ideal situations nurtures adaptability and resilience—skills crucial in navigating uncertain environments.
  4. Opportunities Get Seized: Acting when opportunities arise, irrespective of perfect conditions, often leads to progress and achievement.
  5. Progress is Incremental: Understanding that progress often stems from imperfect steps encourages continuous improvement and propels us forward.

Remember, waiting for perfection or the perfect moment might result in missed opportunities. The magic happens when we embrace imperfection and contribute regardless. It’s about making a difference, learning along the way, and evolving into our better selves.

So, let’s embrace the power of contribution. Step forward, take action, and make your mark. Progress over perfection—it’s the path to growth and success.

Thinking in terms of percentages…

In a world filled with diverse shades of grey, it’s rare to encounter situations that are strictly black or white. Life often presents us with challenges and opportunities that demand nuanced approaches. Rather than viewing things in absolutes, there’s immense value in adopting a perspective centered around percentages, especially when striving for success in various aspects of life.

Success, in its many forms, seldom hinges on monumental leaps or drastic changes alone. It’s often the culmination of consistent, incremental progress. Imagine each step forward as a percentage increase in your chances of achieving your goals.

Let’s apply this concept to job interviews—a common example of life’s pivotal moments. Say, by refining your resume or practicing interview techniques, you estimate a potential 10% increase in your chances of securing the position. Now, 10% might seem insignificant at first glance, but in reality, it can be the defining factor between success and a missed opportunity.

The key lies in embracing these incremental improvements. Taking small, manageable steps can significantly impact outcomes. It’s about acknowledging that progress, regardless of its scale, is still progress. It’s the aggregate of these incremental gains that propel us forward, inching closer to our aspirations.

Moreover, this approach transcends job interviews; it’s a mindset applicable to various facets of life. Whether in personal development, career advancement, or skill acquisition, the philosophy of incremental progress remains steadfast. Each small improvement contributes to the larger picture, ultimately leading to significant accomplishments.

So, let’s recalibrate our thinking. Instead of focusing solely on monumental changes, let’s value the power of percentages. Embrace the notion that even a 5%, 10%, or 20% improvement can be a game-changer. It’s about taking those baby steps toward your goals, consistently and persistently, knowing that each step adds to your overall progress.

In essence, success isn’t always about hitting grand slams. Sometimes, it’s about accumulating singles and doubles—incremental gains that pave the way for remarkable achievements. By acknowledging and leveraging the power of percentages, we empower ourselves to tackle challenges more effectively, inching ever closer to our desired outcomes.

Is it a line or a dot?

Life’s event is considered more as dots, one event seems to turn everything upside down. But should we look at it as a dot or a line?

With line you have more control you can drive the line from that dot to a better direction, to your direction.

Whereas if you get fixed with a dot, you are handicapped as you will consider everything to be lost, while there are still a lot of choices.

So any event or any setback consider it a line towards your destiny and keep moving.

The mobile screen…

The mobile screen looks like a shining glass but there is no reflection, only the sketches and prints of characters which tell us nothing new, nothing touching, nothing significant.

It’s just hard calculative information, and what information?

About what people want from you.

About what people want you to know about them.

About what world that is not near is suffering from.

About what others are doing to be happy

About what you should do or not do to be happy.

How do they even know what makes me happy?

How does anyone know what makes them happy?

Are these the things you want to know? Every minute, every second of the day…

I don’t think so, And I am sure you don’t as well,

But for this mobile screen!

Wiser is better…

Even if you are learning daily that doesn’t mean you’re becoming wiser. A wiser is better than a learner since it is more practical, more applicable & more fruitful.

Learning can be anything but will it make you wiser? That’s the question to be asked & answered.

So try to be a bit wiser daily instead of just being a learner.

Use If-Then Thinking to Change Your Behavior…

We all have habits and behaviors we wish we could change. But just being aware of a bad habit isn’t enough. To truly fix it, start by considering your goal (say, “I want my team to know that I trust them”) and the obstacles you expect to face along the way (“I struggle to delegate”). Next, frame what you will do about the obstacles as if-then statements. To address the delegation obstacle, for example, you could tell yourself: “If I start to feel uncomfortable about not completing the work myself, then I’ll ask for updates on it in our next team meeting.”

Eventually the link between the cue (the “if” part of the statement) and the action (the “then”) will become strong enough to help you change how you react. By using if-then statements, you can think through what will get in your way and make a plan to overcome it.

Stop reading my blog…

In an era dominated by the internet, our reading habits have undergone a significant transformation. With an incessant influx of blogs, news articles, and social media posts vying for our attention, the art of delving into a book and truly immersing ourselves in its narrative seems to be slipping away. As I navigate through the pages of “The Shallows,” a thought-provoking book that delves into this very phenomenon, it strikes me that perhaps it’s time for a conscious shift in our reading preferences.

So, here’s a radical thought: Stop reading blogs. Yes, including mine. Instead, let’s reconnect with the beauty and depth found within the pages of a book.

The internet has bestowed upon us a vast expanse of information, condensed into bite-sized chunks for quick consumption. Skimming through blogs, scrolling through news feeds, and scanning social media posts have become the norm. However, this rapid consumption comes at a cost – the loss of deep engagement and thoughtful contemplation.

Books, on the other hand, offer an immersive experience that transcends the superficiality of online content. They allow us to dive into intricately woven stories, explore diverse perspectives, and stimulate our imagination in ways that fleeting online articles cannot.

There’s a unique joy in turning the pages of a book, feeling the texture, and savoring the scent of paper. Books beckon us to enter different worlds, traverse through time, and connect with characters on a profound level. They provide a sanctuary where we can disconnect from the chaos of the digital realm and engage in unhurried, meaningful reading.

The depth of insights gained from books is unparalleled. They challenge our intellect, broaden our horizons, and evoke emotions that resonate long after the final page is turned. Each book holds within it a treasure trove of knowledge, wisdom, and storytelling that cannot be replicated in short online snippets.

So, why not take a break from the incessant scrolling and dedicate some time to reading a book? Rediscover the sheer pleasure of getting lost in a story, exploring new ideas, or delving into a subject you’re passionate about. Allow yourself to revel in the slow, deliberate pace of reading a book—a pace that encourages reflection and understanding.

Let’s make a conscious choice to prioritize depth over brevity, and substance over speed. Let’s challenge ourselves to embrace the enchantment of books, to relish in their richness and complexity.

Reading a book isn’t just an activity; it’s an experience—a journey filled with discoveries, emotions, and enlightenment. So, to all avid readers and those seeking to rekindle their love for reading: Put down the blogs, pick up a book, and embark on an adventure that only the world of literature can offer. You’ll find that the exhilaration and fulfillment found within the pages of a book are truly unmatched.
