Thinking to the gut…

Why do you think our parents or older folks have better health conditions than ours?

Because they don’t overthink, their thinking is straightforward, it’s more like black-and-white thinking, rather than grey thinking. With all these social media, and communication channels (SMS, Emails, and Digital Media) today we cannot think in black and white, there are always grey areas.

And this overthinking gets to the gut. If we constantly keep ourselves in a state of stress and anxiety, it leads to poor gut and mental health.

So please don’t take your thinking to the gut, simplify your thinking and ignore whatever is not in your control.

Add to the work…

Culture grows when we “Add to the work” our historians did for us, and we in turn are doing it for future generations.

The only way to “Add to the work” is to be creative. AI will replace copying and pattern-matching work, but it will not replace creative work.

The biggest difference between the copy and the original will be a flaw or a mistake of human nature, which generally breaks the pattern and hence cannot be copied.

So to “Add to the work” we should and sometimes deliberately make mistakes.

Wow…

Wow depends more on the person judging for the wow factor. If the person is not in the mood it won’t be wow.

So instead of looking for wow, it’s always better to search for the right parameters, search for quality metrics, and search for the facts, as that will be fair to the other person or thing being judged.

Off-course someone can still want wow! But that might be wow only for the person not for others.

I am not sure what to do…

Many a time it feels like “I am not sure what to do” it can be either for our goal, our future, or our success.

It’s like we are stuck in a place and can’t get out of it.

What helps in this case?

Habits help most in this case, as sometimes you don’t know where you are going but good habits ensure that you are taking the right steps.

Who helps in this case?

Family and friends help in this case by still believing in you, and that you will reach even if it takes time.

And both help us whenever and wherever required.

So let’s inculcate good habits and spend time with family & friends. As these are the two best investments in our life.

Force our body and mind will follow…

In general, we know that our mind drives our body. If your body is in pain while running, your mind will still force it to run as it benefits us. It’s called willpower.

Similarly, our body can also drive our mind, specifically true with habits, it’s a sequence that if you follow triggers the same pattern in your mind and ensures a set of actions.

Hence it’s a good idea to allow the body to do a pattern of actions and our mind also will come into action.

The current blog I am writing is with body force, it’s late at the night, and my mind was telling me to skip the writing today. But when I sat down in my usual chair with my laptop/editor and started typing, the words started flowing in.

So it helps if the body follows a pattern along with the corresponding environment to force the mind to start working.

Yoga, sports, and physical exercises are other ways to force the mind to follow the body.

Can u expect the unexpected?

I am sure

With more knowledge,

With more experience,

With more mistakes.

We learn to expect the unexpected, and better still can make the positive unexpected happen for us.
In this new year, let’s add a new way to expect the unexpected;

Learn from others’ knowledge,

Learn from others’ experiences,

Learn from others’ mistakes.

Imagine how powerful it will be. All we need to do is help others in their un-expectations and get help in return.
This can be the most powerful resolution this year!

Happy new year to you and may all your expectations come true.

Don’t make your problems bigger…

Let’s say you are on an outing and carry a small water bottle with very little water. As you travel and keep the bottle with you slowly in the next one or two hours the bottle starts looking like a burden, now let another 2 hours pass, and the bottle will seem like a nuisance and you will most likely drink the water and throw the water bottle away.

Just imagine if a small and helpful water bottle can cause mental tiredness, how much a problem hovering in your mind will tire you.

So don’t keep problems in your mind it will get bigger. It will fester in your mind. Either solve it or ignore it, if can’t ignore it, learn how to unlearn things for ignorance.

Action and Talk requires almost same amount of work…

We all agree that our mind is the most critical resource for us to grow. Our mind uses almost the same resource whether we are “Taking actions” for an activity where the mind coordinates with the body, or “Talking” about the activity where we explain it to others.

This brings out an interesting case:

  • It’s always good to talk or write down about the activity before performing as this will help us to be ready for the actual action.
  • In some scenarios taking action is better than talking because it almost uses the same energy.
  • A lot of talks drain us because of so many simulations, so talk less and act more.

So decide which one to use and when? The old adage “talk less, act more” indeed gives us a clue.

Take a break…

Taking breaks in the midst of deep work helps function our brain better and we can accomplish things much faster, better, and with more energy.

Continuous work makes us dull and dreary.

So take breaks, relax, take a nap or watch your favorite show before you go back to your deep work again.

Monotonous…

Do you know that our brain works in a similar way whether we are doing office work, watching TV, or reading a book.

But then why do we crave more for watching tv or playing games? The reason is that other tasks, for example, “office work” soon becomes monotonous, whereas TV shows or movies keep up the excitement. Sometimes even while watching TV it becomes monotonous and we switch it off or change the channel.

This implies we can trick our brain to focus and keep working on a productive activity for a longer duration by making the task exciting instead of monotonous.

For example, if we want to write a blog or work on an assignment figure out how to make it more fun so that our brain can keep working on it for long hours.

Monotony also leads to a lot of cravings and addiction, because the addict does not get that level of excitement in other things. That is why interacting with other people helps in getting rid of any addictions as the interactions are exciting.
