Better is better than louder…

Promo is promo even if pushed louder and louder.

Whereas creating something useful, that people like and share with others, it’s better, it’s not “promo”. It’s sharing and caring in the community.

The secret is not to focus on promo but on what you create, what you impact, and what you help others with.

So make it better, keep making it better than the previous instead of making it louder.

Keep Rolling…

Some days just keep rolling yourself toward the path you have chosen.

It will be a crawl, but hopefully, the crawl will convert to miles.

It will be a dot, but the dot will convert to sketches.

It might be too far to see the goal today, but let the small steps today guide us.

And what if we still do not meet the goal someday?

And what if we still couldn’t make the sketch someday?

At least we tried our bests, instead of watching from the sidelines. Realizing that the steps we took may be the reward in itself.

Re-energize Your Team…

If your team is depleted, demotivated, and drained, you can deploy a few strategies to re-energize them.

Proactively initiate purpose-driven career conversations.

And make them routine. People want to know they’re on a path of growth and opportunity for a more significant impact. Include caring feedback on areas to improve so that your employees are ready to take on new opportunities when they arise.

Create team rituals that foster relationships and a sense of belonging.

When people feel deeply connected to their peers, it energizes work and makes it more fun. You might open team meetings with various prompts—for example, asking people to share something they’re grateful for that day or one word that describes how they’re feeling. The idea is that, over time, the team becomes a place of collective refuge and trust.

Swap productivity paranoia for helpful prioritization.

Finally, rather than worrying about whether or not people are working enough, spend time helping people prioritize what’s most important. Help them eliminate non-value-added activities and connect each person’s work to the organization’s most important priorities. This will help create a sense of positive productivity as people engage in purposeful work rather than work for work’s sake.

Challenging people to grow is ultimately an act of kindness…

When someone’s reporting to you already doing well, you might fear that pushing them to do more could be discouraging or demotivating.

Instead of shying away from these uncomfortable conversations, reframe them as an indication of true care.

Stretch people to see their potential. Later in life, they will be thanking you to make them what they are by stretching and getting out of their comfort zone.

How to Handle Criticism…

As you grow either in your job, professional life, or personal life. We all want to get positive attention from others and create a positive image. While sometimes it will be positive—but when things go badly, not so much. If you’re facing criticism, what’s the best way to respond? Here are some strategies that can help when you’re in the eye of the storm.

Accept that criticism is part of your life.

It’s life, you’ll inevitably go wrong and disappoint people from time to time. If you focus too much on the failures, you’ll risk losing confidence, clouding your judgment in the future.

Don’t focus on fairness.

Rather than focusing on whether or not you deserve the blame, focus instead on solving the problem, responding to anyone who’s been harmed, and learning from what happened.

Set the record straight with facts, not emotions.

Defensiveness will only fuel people’s derision. If there’s inaccurate information feeding the frenzied reactions, do what you can and replace it with facts.

Be humble, transparent, and open-minded.

Ask yourself what lessons you can learn from the experience. Do you need to do things differently? Have you made unfounded assumptions? Look closely enough, and you’ll find important insights.

Take action and rework, and grow.

Commit to a new direction, clarifying what you’ll change and how you’ll avoid repeating the problem—and keep yourself updated and keep progressing over time.

I have a Negative Relationship with My Boss…

Everyone wants to feel respected by their manager, but over half of the employees say they don’t. What to do if you’re in that unfortunate majority? Try these three things:

Manage your energy.

Sleep, exercise, good nutrition, and stress management can help to ward off the harmful effects of being disrespected by your boss.

Thrive outside work.

If you’re happy in your non-work life, you’re more likely to thrive at the office, no matter what your boss thinks of you. This is because enjoying outside work increases your emotional reserves and gives you a sense of growth and learning. Think about what will make you happier outside the office, and start doing it.

Seek positive relationships.

Negative, draining relationships affect your sense of thriving which is four to seven times the effect of energizing, positive ones. To offset the drain of people who pull you down, surround yourself with a small group of energizers — the people in your life who make you smile and laugh and lift your spirit.

Want to Create a High-Performing Employee?

Every leader wants to create or convert a low-performing employee into high performing. One piece that’s often missing is the importance of social connections. If you’re trying to supercharge a person, here are research-backed ways you can foster greater connectedness:

Invest time in bonding over non-work topics.

The best way to instill trust and emotional attachment is to bond over personal topics. In fact, discussing things not related to work — sports, books, and family, for example — reveals shared interests, and allows connecting in genuine ways, which yields closer friendships and better relationships.

Openly appreciate expressiveness.

Recognition is often a more powerful motivating force than monetary incentives. And an acknowledgment of being expressive not just work should be the norm. It allows her the open up with you and the team boosting her self-confidence and trust.

Put a premium on authenticity.

It’s important to create an environment where employees feel comfortable candidly expressing both positive and negative emotions — as well as complimenting and joking with teammates. This kind of environment has an inductive effect on lower-performing employees and they start performing well.

Structure or Details…

To communicate would you choose structure or details? Off-course both complements each other but which one to choose as starting point?

Structure defines the flow and Details fill the flow.

If it’s formal communication whether presentations, business meetings, or interviews, the “Structure” is necessary – it’s a way to simplify complex communication between professionals.

If it’s informal communication between friends or colleagues “Structure” kills casual relationships whereas “Details” bring the story.

So choose wisely.

Feeling Insecure Today…

Tomorrow will be a new day even if you are feeling insecure today.

So wait for tomorrow with hope, while doing what’s possible today.

Past is past, regretting that will not help you today.

Even if others have gone past you, you will meet them in the future someday.

What matters most is that you are enjoying your journey today.

And giving your best for the day.
