SEO – Site Accessibility Factors…

Site accessibility factors are most basic health check and critical for any website which is looking to grow in SEO traffic, here are the factors/checks:

1. Robots.txt
If your website is not accessible to Search Engine Crawlers, your web pages are not indexed, which literally means you are not in the index of the database from which search results are retrieved.
To check your robots.txt type: http://www.example.com/robots.txt by replacing “example” with your actual website URL(domain name).
You can test and edit your robots.txt file to add or exclude new pages or bots or files using the webmaster robot testing(https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/robots-testing-tool) tool.

2. Sitemaps/Sitemap.xml
Sitemaps provide the search engine crawlers with a navigation guideline, a kind of check list that indicates which all pages are there on your website and in the order they shall be indexed.
Make sure your sitemap abides by the XML document format and is structured as per the sitemap protocol(https://www.sitemaps.org/protocol.html).

3. HTTP Response Status
Ensure that the web pages return appropriate HTTP Response status so that crawler understands and index the pages. Fix broken links and ensure pages are accessible at all the times.
Here are the HTTP Response Statuses, relevant for SEO:
“200” : Pages accessible and returns success.
“404” : Not Found
“301” : Permanently Moved
“302” : Temporarily Moved

4. Performance & Load Time of Site Pages

5. Mobile Accessibility
Mobile as an access point has been growing at tremendous pace and Google gives huge weightage whether a page is mobile accessible.

6. HTTPS (Secure Sites)

For any website, these are the sanity checks for ensuring that Site is accessible and Google and other crawlers access your site for SEO…

Should we have (at least) two careers

Should we try and have two or three careers simultaneously, this can provides loads of positives, in terms of monetary benefits, more fulfilling, utilizing our varied skill sets in multiple verticals etc…

But does this work in Indian or rather Asian context? Here are some of the points which do not allow us to jump in two pools so easily:

1. Keep Everyone Busy Syndrome: Keeping Employee busy is one of the key thoughts ingrained deeply in all employers/managers and bosses. The notion is to keep everyone under you busy. I remember one of my previous company, we had a finance manager, his idea was if u want to ensure that your team is performing best, keep them as much busy with work as possible. It implies that getting the time out of your one career is difficult and not exactly friendly to your current employer. You can get similar or better ideas, from Trade Wise, if you follow the page!

2. Stable job and financial well being: Once we are in a stable job and financially secure, we do not want to invest in another career. Raise your hands who all are in govt jobs/ public sectors earning enough, do u want to become a guitarist as other career option? Nah not many …

3. Commitment towards Personal Growth: If we need to have two careers we should have a commitment to our personal growth since some of the careers path like music or creative side takes much longer time to get productive in terms of returns. We are born with the mentality of doing things for short term money, fame or peer pressures. Developing a career and then choosing another takes lots of time/patience and commitment.

4. Lastly, lesser job opportunities: Some of the graduate students are not even able to get one single job, thinking about two is out of the question.

Personally, I think opting for two careers is definitely a great idea and can be very fulfilling but whether we can take it up?

God fearing or God loving?

Are you God fearing or God loving? Do you know the difference? The litmus paper test is whether you love yourself or hate yourself? If you love yourself you will believe in God in a logical way. If you fear God and do things just to please him, it implies that you are trying to bargain something from him and you do not actually understand yourself and God. And do not love yourself, as you don’t understand…

And since you do not understand you will live in fear.

Believe

In a small village, there was a family, they were barely able to make their ends meet. Father use to work as a labor traveling daily to a nearby city and comes back in evening with a small amount of money. There were no savings and all they earned were spent daily.

He has a son and a daughter who wanted to go school but since they didn’t have any money they cannot go. One day the boy found a 100 Rs note stuck in one of the paths near their home. He took the money and showed it to his mother and sister. All of them first became very happy but then mother decided that we should wait for the person who lost the money, he might be back for the money.

In the evening father returned and learned about the money and how the boy has found it. He also said that let’s wait for whoever the money is to return. Hence they all waited with a skeptical mood that someone will be coming to get the money back. But no one came that night or the next day or even a week.

After some time they understood that no one will be coming for the money, as he forgot or lost it.

100 Rs was a big amount for them, so they decided to save it and use it only when required. The money in the house seems to have given new hope and power to the father, now he goes early and instead of manual labor he tried doing carpentry help work, which he knew a bit. That increased his daily earning and slowly it grew. Mother, the boy, and the girl also had new zeal, the boy started helping her in nearby household work, and the girl started going school. After some time the boy also started going to school.

That 100 Rupee note was still intact and saved by them. As things improved both of them topped in school exams and went to college with scholarships. Slowly they also started earning after graduation and allowed the parents a peaceful life.

The 100 Rupee note is still intact with them. As if it’s a savior and god send a message to them to change their ways. Believe comes to us from very different and unexpected ways, keep watching for those and believe in it…

Anger

In city apartments there lived a married couple. They had a pretty set routine, husband use to work in large IT firm and go to work early in the morning. After he comes back in evening he used to fight and scold his wife continuously, eat dinner and go to sleep.

In the next apartment, there was a college girl who came to study in the city and use to observe this. She felt bad about the couple specifically about the wife, but since she didn’t know them, she remained quiet and sadly kept observing them.

One day suddenly she saw that the husband came into the house and instead of scolding his wife, he spoke very nicely and caressed her. They didn’t fight and sat together lovingly, the girl was very surprised and happy about the whole incident. But also felt a twinge of sadness that it might be temporary for a day or two.

Next day also she observed the same thing, the husband came, spoke nicely and there was no fight or scolding between them. It went like this for a whole week.

The girl was very curious and decided to find out what happened, why suddenly husband changed. She decided to follow him to understand. She followed whole day nothing happened but at the end of the day when he came out of office, instead of going home directly, he went some other place, she kept following him.

He reached a temple in a quiet corner near the local stand, there was a small stone just outside the temple. He came forward to the stone and started yelling at it, he shouted about all his problems and frustrations in office or life to the stone. Since it was a quiet corner place no one paid any attention except the girl who was noticing. After yelling and scolding the stone for around 10-15 minutes, he stopped took a deep breath and touched the feet of stone. Then he returned back home, the girl can make out that his face has turned happy and he has let go of all his anger on that stone near the temple.

The girl understood how the husband has found a way to vent out his Anger and live a happy life.

Be a hacker in life….

Hacker is someone who keeps up to breaking things to create something……if we keep doing it that for the passion we have……it will automatically lead to creating something new and good earnings….

Fear

There lived a boy in small town. He lived with his parents and was always very cheerful and happy. He used to help his mother in household chores and was also good in studies.

One day there came a circus for performing in the town. He was very happy when his father told him that they will be going to the circus. He started dreaming about the circus how it will be, how many animals will be there, how they will be performing etc

Suddenly one day, his mother fell ill. And got very serious, the doctor said that there is no medicine that can cure her. Both he and his father were devastated, her mother died soon after some days. He couldn’t understand what happened and felt very very sad and depressed. In the meantime, the circus left the town.

Somehow because of this, he thought its because the circus that came in the village whole thing happened. And started fearing the circus.

Years past and now he is a man, he was doing good for himself and also taking care of his father, who was much older now. Then one day he heard that circus is coming, he still had everything fresh from his past, he got so scared that again something will happen. He went to his father and said we have to leave town because the circus is coming. His father was very old and bedridden, he said it is not possible since I cannot walk and also you have a good job and life in this town, we cannot leave all these.

But he didn’t agree, he left his father, his house, and town, just before circus came and because of this, his father couldn’t get further support and died after some time.

He got this news when he was on road and also heard that circus has left town. From that day onwards he never got out of his fear of circus.

If only he would have understood that had he not left his father, he would have saved him. But for his fear of circus……

And as we grew up, we realized how, silently but irretrievably, our lives have changed…!!

Sometimes there are no closure….

But sometimes there are no closure….

We all have difficulties letting ourselves go, be it a small confrontation with our peer, our friends, wife, parents or in office with boss. We keep looping it in our mind either blaming ourself or finding fault in other person till we justify it. For some it takes days or even weeks to forget and move on, for others it takes much lesser time.

Why we do it?

I think one of the reasons we do it is to understand what happened and rectify or avoid the same mistake in future. We all have a sense of learning which is ingrained to make us better in everything we do, so we try to analyze and improve from it.

But we oversimplify it, sometimes it’s not as simple as it looks, maybe the other person is not in good mood, maybe you yourself are in bad grudge about sometime else with someone. With all these in background and the present environment even the most calm person might have that altercation.

Can we let it go?

As a closure, we either expect apology from others or some kind of punishment to be exerted on the other person or to us. But why so? Everyone makes mistake, we ourselves make so many mistakes and ignore it. Can’t we pardon him/her or for that matter ourself ? Just imagine if you can pardon the other person and yourself without doing lots of mumbo-jumbo in your mind. How fast you can recover from it and feel better again. Moreover it helps you remain calm and in much happier state always!

So let’s let go

So let it go and forgive him/her and self, and say it out loud “Sometimes there are no closure so no worries 🙂 “

Why we pay so much attention to negative thoughts or emotions…

Have you ever wondered why we pay so much attention to negative thoughts or emotions compared to postive once. Even if we have some positive thoughts or things happening still negative thoughts becomes highest priority for us. And we immediately start fretting on the negatives, why it’s happening to me? But we never try to retain postives to the same level or duration, Why?

If we look down the history we might get some answers, here are few to ponder:

At the core we are still much evolved animals..

Yes, we as social animals have a inherent sense of risks and dangers which is far more advanced than any other senses in our body and mind, reason being survival. If a deer does not constantly keep thinking and avoiding risks, it might not survive. Survival is core function for any life. And eventhough our current distress have nothing to do with survival risk, our mind and body makes that as highest priority and keeps brooding over it.

Easiest way to ignore or get out of it, is to recall another primitive function Being social, talk to someone who can empathize with you. This gives feeling of bonding and negativeness goes away. The best example is when there is lot of distress in office, we become lot more social with peers and creates a deeper bond. Think about it, your best office buddies are from places which have maximum stress.

We are ambitious and to some extend greedy…

We all want more and hence even if anything positive happens, like promotion or increments etc, we tend to move on much faster to next milestones. Also being social we keep comparing ourselves with others how they are doing and whether we are at par or not..

Both of these combined leads to lot of brooding over negative thoughts and emotions. And, knowing why we do, what we do, while being negative might help us recover out of it much faster, so lets try it out…
